Employers Eliminated 49,000 jobs in the month of May

As you read the paper or the news on the Internet, I'm sure you came across the Labor Department Report. The number of unemployed people grew by 861,000 which is now at 8.5 million people. A year ago, the number of unemployed was 6.9 million

Job losses for the year reached 324,000. The lines are going to be longer at the unemployment office and more people are going to continue to worry about their jobs.
Will this continue over the next few months? No one has the answer... Those of us that are employed must continue to do the best we can each and every day. You don't know what lies ahead.

Use Both Sides of Paper

I was reading an interesting article on 50 Ways to Help The Planet 50waystohelp.com.
The article discussed 50 ways to help the environment. One of the 50 ways was "Use Both Sides of Paper". I do this religiously! I have a pile of scrap paper that I use. The article mentioned that every YEAR business throw away 21 million tons of paper. Which is equal to 175 pounds per office worker. Two suggestions the article mentioned was (a) bring documents to the recycling bin when you're finished and (b) set your printer default to print double-sided. So if all of us made sure we did this ... we could save a lot of trees!

Count The Stars

I was eating a piece of Dove Dark Chocolate earlier. When I unwrapped it, I noticed there was a message in the wrapper. It read "Count the Stars". And it got me thinking ... we live in such a busy world where we are constantly multi-tasking that we never really take the time to smell the roses. I know with myself, working full time, having a family, etc, I know I feel like I need more than 24 hours in a day.
I took part in a Webinar today on Recruiting 2.0 and the same discussion came up. In recruiting, we are constantly multitasking. The whole concept of social networking came up & things are differently now to where they were 5 years ago. With recruiting today there are so many social networks, it's ever changing. More and more recruiters are going on Facebook, MySpace, LinkedIn, Blogging, etc. I just find it extremely interesting how social networking has become to popular and I am sure others do the same.
